A Fleazaar Moment:

One laughable moment at Fleazaar this year was right during the mayhem of the first hour, one woman came up to me and said, “I am having so much fun.  This is great.”  And then with a rather impish laugh she added.  “You should do this every week.”  Several of us gave a large sigh to this comment.

By the way, we did have one complaint this year.  One woman said it was much too organized to be a flea market.  I wish she could have seen it on Sunday afternoon.

Honesty at Fleazaar:  Jack Majewski told me about a Wednesday Happening.  He was walking into the church after collecting money and he dropped one bunch of bills.  He didn’t know it until a man came up behind him, touched his shoulder, and said, “I think you dropped this.”  He handed Jack about $100.00 and walked off before Jack could get his name and really say, “Thank You.”

Respectively submitted,

The Ballad of the Fleazaar

(sung to Sweet Betsy From Pike)

Oh have you heard tell of the Fleazaar up north?

Let’s hop in our wagons, and all sally forth

to treasures and bargains so rare in this time

We’ll rush there at daybreak

and then stand in line.

Singing too rolly ooh rolly ooh rolly aaay

We enter a world we have not seen before

with eight track tape players and lamps by the score

and dishes and cookware and Tupperware too

and so many stuffed animals

you could start your own zoo

Singing too rolly ooh rolly ooh rolly aaay

The crowd is tremendous and all of one mind

to search for that item they hope they will find

remembered from youth or gift from a friend

or a comfy sofa for resting their end

Singing too rolly ooh rolly ooh rolly aaay

The rush is now over and we’re homeward bound

and Manitowish Waters is not a bad town

the people are friendly and full of good cheer

and we’ll need more bargains

so we’ll be back next year.

Singing too rolly ooh rolly ooh rolly aaay

We will accept donations at the barn for the coming year on the following Saturdays: 10/9, 10/23, and 11/6 from 9:00 am until noon.

Pick up’s will be provided only if volunteers are available.  Items accepted will be contingent on a new list of “not acceptable.”  This is due to the large volume of things we had to dispose of the past two years.  Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation.  See you there.

Respectfully submitted,

Jack Majewski

________________________________________

On behalf of the entire Fleazaar Committee, we want to thank each and every person who participated in and contributed to this year’s Fleazaar.  Each year we are amazed by the generosity of people, both in donations and effort.  Looking back at the amount of time and labor that goes into this activity every year, we are humbled by the generosity of not only our church community, their families and friends, but also the generosity of complete strangers and our entire community.

This year’s outside sales totaled $34,388.31.  Each year this money is used to support the needs of the church, people within our community and charitable organizations.

There are too many people involved in this activity to thank individually, but we would be remiss if we didn’t mention the efforts of the entire Madams and Sirs team and especially their President, and outgoing Fleazaar Chairman, Ken Eales and his right-hand man, Keith Bohlin.  A heartfelt thank you for your many years of service!

The storage facilities have now been readied to accept donations for the 2011 Fleazaar.

We will be open the following Saturdays: 9/25, 10/9, 10/23, and 11/6 from 9:00 am until noon.

Pick up’s will be provided only if volunteers are available.  Items accepted will be contingent on a new list of “not acceptable.”  This is due to the large volume of things we had to dispose of the past two years.  Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation.  See you there.

Respectfully submitted, Jack Majewski
